Why do I need my doctor’s approval to exercise if I am pregnant?

Your doctor can best advise you about your individual medical concerns and decide if exercise is right for you during your pregnancy. You need to consult with them first prior to beginning our exercise program if you are pregnant. We can provide you with a written authorization form.

How soon after baby is born can I join Stroller Strides?

It is recommended that you wait 6 weeks after the birth of your baby to start Stroller Strides. ALWAYS get your physician’s approval before beginning any exercise regimen.

Do I need a jogging stroller?

No, but it helps to have one that is easily maneuvered and not likely to tip over. Inexpensive umbrella strollers are not well suited for class.

How can I keep my child(ren) occupied during class?

We work hard to keep them happy with brightly colored letters, games, stroller activities, singing and finger play. One of the main reasons we are outside is to provide curious children an environment full of cool things to see! During their trip in the stroller, they may see trucks, planes, water, wildlife and lots of other kids. There is much to see and talk about when we are outside and this is enough for some kids. For others, they may need a small electronic device or small toy. We sing songs and act silly for their entertainment. Kids are active participants in our classes.

Do you cancel if it rains or the weather is bad?

If it is raining, we do not cancel class. Our Motto is We Train in the Rain. If it is extremely cold, icy or if there is an active thunderstorm then we will post last minute changes on our facebook page –

What do I need to bring?

Bring a yoga mat or towel, exercise bands and water. If you are new to class, you can usually borrow exercise bands and a yoga mat your first time. Please wear safe and supportive footwear appropriate for exercise. We travel on uneven surfaces, concrete, grass and sometimes sand! You may also need a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses for you and your child.

What kind of exercise do you do?

All of our programs use exercise tubing, body weight and the environment to give you an excellent all over workout. Some of our classes will use small equipment that will be provided. For each class, we warm up then combine intervals of power walking/running and strengthening followed by a cool down and stretching.

Aren’t you just walking in the park?

No! Our programs are designed to give you a great workout regardless of your fitness level. They can be as challenging as you need and modified when necessary to give you an appropriate and effective workout. We have many surprised first timers and dads who had no idea what a great workout they would get!

Do I have to bring my child?

Nope. If you want a day off to exercise without them, feel free to leave them in the capable hands of someone else.
